A few weeks ago, I spent some time back in Dorking (before I rushed off to play a show in Manchester) recording some acoustic sessions with Punktastic in a dungeon.
Here’s the one that Break-Ups (actually just Alf, but hey) recorded:
They’ve been aptly named the Asbestos Sessions, because there was a sign on the door saying CAUTION: ASBESTOS
…or something like that.
I’m pretty stoked with how these sessions came out. I quite like the sound of the room. I used a little extra reverb, but I think it complements the decay of the room. If I get a chance, I’ll probably go back, because that room is damn cool!

When I first saw PJ, I thought he was great and I knew about the Vienna sessions he’d done. Recording touring bands / acoustic people had been something I’d wanted to do whenever they passed through, but I’d never had the opportunity to do a session like the Vienna one that he did. However, at Groezrock, PJ agreed to record an acoustic session with myself and the Punktastic guys. You can check that out in the video below:

At Groezrock, I had the pleasure of recording an acoustic session with Mikey Erg. The coolest and sweetest dude. We both enjoyed his voice squeal and decided it makes it more real…right!?

It was Jon from The Dopamines’ birthday on the Sunday of Groezrock. He was wonderfully hungover, so him and Mikey Erg popped over. Jon recorded this and seemed pretty stoked to get the whole of the way thru the song. I was stoked to record it. We were all stoked. Y’know…it was Groezrock and we were already drinking by midday. Whoops!

It’s here! The Brand New Lands cover is here, for your eyes. I still find it weird that my face is on it.
This album took a long time for me to make for many reasons, but now it’s done, I couldn’t be more pleased. Olly T did the design and Roxy Stoneman took the picture.
