Check it out on the Bandcamp page.

You’ll be able to download it for however much you want to pay. There’s no minimum so if you don’t have a paypal, or just don’t like spending money, you can still grab a digital copy.

I’m hoping I’ll have the CD’s with me by the show on 10th July with The Plight, SR Radio and a couple of other rad bands.

Until then, I’m gonna try and catch up on some sleep and chill out.

I hope you’re all good and hope to see you soon 🙂

The Stagecoach guys have just made one the coolest videos I’ve seen in ages and I thought I should share what Dorking is capable of producing.

Stagecoach – Jonah Lomu

Not only is this definitely their slickest video, but I think it’s the best they’ve ever sounded. Totally solid recording and performance.

Nicks dribble. Well..

Apparently they smelled like sick at the end of the day. Surprised? No.

I hope they don’t mind me posting this on here

The Frustration of Recording & Mixing Your Own Music…

Hopefully, most of you who’ve heard the Springtime Radio EP are aware that the release date is 1st July. You may however, not know that I intend to do some tiny final touches to the final mix & master thats going on the actual release.

When you record, mix & master your own music, every time you listen to it you find something that you just can’t stand. This is made even more apparent when you listen to a record that you think is amazing.

Along the way, when I was recording the Springtime Radio EP, I went through different phases of listening to different types of music and this indirectly affects the way in which you perceive your own songs and the way they are and should be mixed. Luckily, I have a lot of friends that try and tell me when to stop screwing about with things and I’m pretty good at giving up and just accepting.

However, through putting the pre-release version of the EP online it’s meant I’ve been able to gain some interest from people and it’s given me a chance to gauge my feelings towards the songs appropriately.

This is by no means a ‘paint by numbers’ list of what I need to do to the EP for me to be happy with the final product. It’s more of a ‘Luke, DON’T BE AN IDIOT! Pay attention to these things and make them sound exactly how YOU (I) want them to sound’. They’re only subtle things that I need to pay attention to throughout the entirety of the EP, in different amounts depending on the songs.

Generally, I’m pretty excited for getting this final mix & master done, which you’ll all be able to hear when it’s on CD & available for download.

As for this post, I felt it was worth writing for a moment about the way I work and to give you all a little insight in to the frustrations of creating an entirely DIY recording. I guess I just think too much. But, then again, that’s what everyone says about my music anyways…

Have fun with the Springtime Radio EP as it is, cuz it’s gonna be so much better (to my ears) when it’s finally done. Hopefully, you’ll also agree. This post is kind of more for the geeky music guys and girls that listen to songs in the same in depth way that I do. I think you’ll appreciate the new mixes a little bit more as well.

The Springtime Radio EP is all finished (apart from some little mixing things) and is being uploaded onto bandcamp this Sunday. I’ll post the bandcamp link soon. It’ll probably go online at about 6pm GMT but that’s not certain yet.

As for ‘official’ (physical/download) release, not much has been sorted out yet, but I’ll get on that as soon as possible and let you know what the plan is as soon as I know. I’m aiming for a proper release close to the end of June, provided everything goes as smoothly as I’m hoping it will.

Artwork is on it’s way but is not finished yet. I think I’d best get drawing pretty soon.

That’s pretty much the whole situation at the moment. I just wanted everyone to know that they’ll be able to listen to the EP before it’s released!

Hopefully everyone else will be as excited as I am about this release!

Party on, dudes! I’m super stoked!

JAK. & other stuff…

I’ve just spent my weekend recording a good friend of mine Jak Paxton. Playing under the name JAK. he recorded 5 songs for a new release, titled Friend & Foe, coming mid June at my little studio with me at the controls of my trusty steed of a studio rig.

One of the songs is an absolutely beautiful piano based track which we did in my mum’s living room. It sounds stunning. The other 4 songs were recorded entirely in my little studio using minimal gear and song by song to give each song an individual flavour.

I’ll update you with more news on release dates, artwork and other stuff on this release as I know. Keep an eye out. It’s a sweet little record and I think there’s probably something on there for everyone.

In the mean time, check out some of his previous recordings: Jak’s MySpace Page

I (as Springtime Radio) and Jak will possibly be doing a split EP at some point in the near future too so keep an eye out for news on that.

Summer Vibes.

So in my head this has been a long time coming.  It’s a song that I’ve been meaning to do for ages.  I’m sure there are a few people out there that will think I’m an idiot for doing it and hate my version and what have you, but I did it anyway.

Have a listen to it please.

I hope you can enjoy it for what it is.  It’s a single take, recorded with one microphone on my bed.  I didn’t want to make it some kind of large scale production because it’s the song itself that I love.

Thanx for ya time.
